BEOPAR MANDAL DEMANDS CHANGES IN VAT FORM23 AND24 TO BE IMPLEMENTED ONLY ONCE GST IS ENFORCED in the country
THE NEW AETC ASSURES TRADERS THAT NO UNNECESSORY HARRASEMENT due to new changes IN THE RETURN REGARDING ITEM WISE BILLS OR SPECIFIYING HEADS etc and extention of the last date of quarterly return to 15th August
A delegation of senior functionaries of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal today Called on Sh Ravinder Koushik A.E.T.C. Excise and Taxation Department,U T Chandigarh to plead the difficulties being faced by the traders of the city in filing new Sales Tax returns due to changes in Vat Form No 23 and 24 in which now the item wise bills details have to be provided .Other important issue of notices being received by the traders due to miss match in in either Tin No or the category of goods
Ram Karan Gupta Chairman Sales Tax subcommittee CBM pointed out the difficulty in matching the category of goods bill wise and showed how it was possibility of small discrepancies to this that AETC said that department is going to take up only top 50 or so cases where discrepancies are very wide and shall not be harassing small and ,Medium traders for very minute differences and also the goods could be clubbed in main categories . and software is being upgraded to pint out small discrepancies while filing of returns only like correct Tin Nos
On the plea of Charan Jiv Singh President CBM the AETC said that last date of submission of this quarterly return is being extended to 15th August which was welcome d by the delegation
Diwakar Sahoonja Chief Patron CBM pointed out higher Vat rates in U T compared to Tricity on many items like School Copies , Toys and sanitary Napkins which the officer agreed to forward to higher authorities all these items are tax free else where but have 5 % vat in U T
The demand raised by Kamal JIT Singh panchi Advisor CBM for holding of the much due meeting of Vat Advisory Committee of U T was also assured by the Officer to be decided soon
The Radhey Shyam senior member CBM and L C Arora member Vat Advisory committee pursued the Department to ignore small errors in the returns since they are newly implemented and traders are not used to it
Pradeep Mahlotra Finance Secry CBM said the Vat should be reduced on such items having more rates in U T compared to Tricity at the earliest when ever such change occurs
The Delegation told the department that as such retail business in the city is quite subdued and need supportive measure rather than making process more complex
