A meeting of Food Standard & Safety Act Co-ordination committee of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal was held today at Jagota Restaurent Sector-24,Chandigarh to discuss problems and ISSUES related to Food Business operators .There is a panic like situation among the small and medium traders in Food Business as the last date which is 04/08/2014 for obtaining licenses is just 2 days away. Meeting was attended by Sh.Charanjiv Singh, Sh.Naresh Mahajan, Sh.Anil Vohra, Sh Jagdish Kapoor, Sh.Subhash Narang, Sh. Balwinder Singh, SH.Omparkash Budhiraja, Sh.Rajiv anchanda, Sh.Ramesh Aggarwal.

Charanjiv Singh president,CBM said that the interest of small & medium traders have not being taken into consideration which are more than 2 crores in India and quite substantial in the U T as well while framing Food Standard & Safety Act-2006. who are now facing difficulty even in obtaining or renewal of their licenses.
Naresh Mahajan Chairman Food Standard and Safety Act co-ordination Committee said that this Act has been framed to suit Multinational Companies but shall damage small & medium traders who find it impossible to fulfill its provisions. So there is dire need to reconsider most of the provisions of the act promulgated during the previous UPA Govt.
As per decision taken in the meeting, a memorandum is being sent to Dr.Harsh Vardhan Union Health Minister requesting him below mentioned appeals :

1. To extend the last date of obtaining the license under the act which is 4th August 2014, by another six months.
2. To form a committee having representation of traders, consumers, Govt officials and Political Parties to examine and amend controversial provisions of the act before act is finally implemented in the country.

A copy of the letter is being sent to Sh Shyam Bihar Mishra National President Bhartiya Udyog Beopar Mandal and Sh.Sanjay Tondon President BJP Chd with a request to take up this most important traders issue with Union Government New Delhi.
